Thank Goodness forThe Rain

Our Bounteous Spring

Winter is over, and it feels almost las if summer has already arrived But we'll never forget all that winter rain. How can we? The streams and waterfalls are still full, and our source, which has normally dried up by now, flows merrily away. But that's not all, for the evidence is all around us in the luxurious growth. Every tree is in full , fresh green leaf. The countryside around us is a beautiful sight to behold.

Every flowering shrub is in fulsome blossom. Thanks to Mother Nature, our garden has never looked so beautiful,

But there is more. Our overflowing source is redirected through our pond, so that it has the appearance of a small stream. As the water is continually refreshed , our goldfish are thriving. I can now spot at least four generations . Where the water flows out the land stays moist, and the flag irises have extended their range. It is a pretty sight.

Beyond our gates, the deciduous woodland trees are looking at their best, whilst beneath them the wild genista is flourishing as never before. These beautiful yellow bushes not only fill our forest world with yellow, but they waft their heady perfume on the warm air .

Yes, while we may well have grumbled throughout the winter as we sheltered from the rain, now we are reaping its benefits. That is, except for one tiny creature for whom this excess water is causing a problem. More about that in my next blog. I hope to have some ' book news' for you too.
