Storm Update

Did we make it into Town?

CLIMATE CHANGE SEASONS

Reader, we made it! In spite of rain continuing throughout the next two days, our little bridge remained passable. We concluded that its new construction must have ensured that a greater passage of water could flow underneath. What a relief! That said, it was still a close call.

However, our journey into town was a rather wet one as rain continued to fall, and the roads were awash. Along the way, we pass an area of tall cliffs. Water was pouring down from a height like a giant waterfall as we passed by, while smaller outflows were to be seen everywhere.

Water Water Everywhere.
Water Water Everywhere.
Great sheets of water tumble from the cliffs

But we are not alone as the whole of this area is suffering from this severe weather. Never before have storm drains in towns seemed so essential. Even the ditches that have been recently cleared alongside our forest road are proving their worth as they channel water away. Were it not for those, our route to the village own would have been washed away. It would seem the weather in the South of France is becoming one of extremes.

But at least we have just passed the shortest day of the year. From now on days can only get longer, and ,hopefully, brighter.

Happy Winter Solstice!
