We are currently experiencing the most beautiful of autumns. Thanks to an unusually wet summer, the deciduous trees are slow to lose their leaves, and even now, as Christmas approaches, leaves linger on the trees, filling our world with autumn colour. But with each gust of wind leaves fall, and a new beauty is revealed. Yesterday I walked through the forest with my camera handy, to record the wonderful shapes of bent tree trunks and twisting branches that are being revealed. Contrast these with the sturdy, straight and upright trunks of the pine forest. There is no competition! Of all the trees, nothing is more beautiful than the chêne pubescens(deciduous oak) with its lingering golden brown leaves set against the twisted dark black tree trunks. Perhaps a close second come the enormous plane trees with their mottled bark . Here are some photographs to show you what I mean.
